SETTING INTENTIONS

What You Need To Know

You may have a goal to lose or keep off that “Quarantine 15”, or read every book in your at-home library. But somehow, being at home all day has a way of making the clock tick faster, and before you know it, it’s 9pm and you’re two episodes away from finishing your 9th favorite series on Netflix. What’s clear is it can be easy right now to lose track of not only the time, but of yourself. There’s a good chance you’ll never make progress on your goals unless you become intentional about them.

That’s why setting small intentions each day will help you create a path to follow that is specific and achievable. Follow these steps to help you be intentional daily:

  • Write down your intention: Seeing is believing, so being able to see your daily intention will be the first step to setting you up for success. Tape it to your bathroom mirror, the side of your computer, or other area of your house that you go to often.

  • Track your progress: Designate two or three times during the day where you jot down things you’ve noticed since practicing your intention. If your intention is to stop and appreciate the little things, write down what “little things” you’ve appreciated so far! Keep a journal handy to monitor your progress.

  • Stay Flexible: Be open to opportunities that might help you gain new experiences in regards to your daily intention. If your intention is to be present, maybe suggest playing a board game with a loved one instead of browsing your social media accounts.

Setting daily intentions will help you be proactive in your mental wellbeing, and taking care of your feelings will allow your maturity and spirituality to thrive. Being intentional about your life will help you to find the courage to let go of things that no longer serve you and instead to pursue things that make you feel alive and well.
